I would not recommend swimming in the sea here as the waves are quite big and the currents look strong. It is about an hour's walk from the centre of Lagos and some of it is uphill. Walking back is easier so you may choose to get a cab there and walk back.

it's a bit of a trek. I would suggest you get the small train that runs up to the light house from the promenade by the bus garage. The train runs every 10 mins . 1.50 euro each.
