A cyber-threat report from Google is shedding light on how foreign actors are leveraging generative AI to boost their hacking prowess.

Study published by Google says publicly available generative artificial intelligence tools help hackers speed up their activities but provide little help in creating new kinds of attacks

The report, which focuses on interactions with Google’s AI assistant Gemini, found that allegedly government-backed threat actors have primarily used Gemini for common tasks such as reconnaissance, vulnerability research and content generation.
