Gov. Jared Polis verbally declared a disaster emergency Sunday for a wildfire burning in northwest Colorado.

Two new wildfires are burning Sunday on Colorado’s Western Slope, prompting evacuation orders and disaster declarations.

The Leroux Fire has already burnt approximately 700 acres of private and BLM land. Firefighters from the Crawford-Hotchkiss Fire District, the BLM, the Forest Service and the National Park Service are battling the blaze.
