In a night dedicated to honoring seniors, No. 7 Iowa men’s wrestling rallied in the end, defeating No. 10 Michigan 19-17 in Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Friday night.  Coming down to the last match, the Hawkeyes were fueled by clutch wins from seniors Michael Caliendo and Drake Ayala in the win.

IOWA CITY - In what has been a rough 2025-26 season, Iowa wrestling won its final home dual of the year vs. Michigan. After losing four of the first five bouts, Iowa rallied to win 19-17. The Hawkeyes won four of the last five matches as well Drake Ayala fittingly got to deliver the knockout punch in his last home dual,

After leading nearly the entire dual, the Wolverines (8-6 overall, 4-4 Big Ten) fell to Iowa (11-5, 4-3), 19–17, when the Hawkeyes secured a match-clinching technical fall at 133 pounds. Ultimately handing Michigan a loss decided in the final minutes rather than across the previous hour of momentum swings.
