A judge in San Diego has granted a protective order against a Carlsbad, California man who authorities say was communicating with the suspect in Monday's Madison, Wisconsin school shooting, Natalie "Samantha" Rupnow.

According to multiple news outlets, a judge issued a restraining order Tuesday to a Carlsbad, Calif., man who revealed to FBI agents that he told 15-year-old Natalie “Samantha” Rupnow he was planning to target a government building.

New information has emerged in the investigation into a school shooting at a small Christian school in Madison, Wisconsin, though authorities are still searching for a motive.

Alexander Paffendorf had allegedly planned a mass shooting at a government building in a parallel and coordinated attack with Natalie ‘Samantha’ Rupnow.

FBI agents interviewed Alexander Paffendorf, 20, late Tuesday, according to a court order obtained by The Washington Post.
