Four days from the All-Star break, Manny Machado still has not taken a game off this year. He has had a handful of “half-days” off. Thursday’s series finale will be one of those days as Machado will serve as the DH for the 6:40 p.

The homers by Machado and Tatis, Jr. – an All-Star starter and reserve, respectively – were the 16th by each player so far this season. Machado, however, has been hot – it was his third home run in the past seven games – but Tatis had been on a dry spell. It was his first homer in 15 games.
