Benchmark indices on Thursday continued their winning streak with Nifty crossing 24,200, intraday. The performance was on the back of buying across the sectors led by auto stocks after December sales number.

The 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex jumped 1,436.30 points or 1.83% — its best single-day gain in more than a month — to settle at 79,943.71. During the day, it soared 1,525.46 points or 1.94% to 80,032.87.

Indian benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex ended the previous trade session in the green. Nifty 50 closed at 23,813.40, while Sensex ended at 78,699.07.Most Asian equities were lower in early trade today.
