Three children – ages 8, 9, and 14 – and a 21-year-old were killed in the shooting, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office. Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi said the 8-year-old who was killed was a student in the Stockton Unified School District. She added that the child’s parent also works for the school district.

Amari Peterson was one of three children, including an 8-year-old and a 9-year-old, killed in the shooting, authorities said. A 21-year-old man was also killed.

Around 7 p.m., deputies were called to the 700 block of Gertrude Avenue in Stockton for a report of a shooting.

An additional 11 people were injured Saturday night when at least one person opened fire at a birthday party in Stockton. The shooter is still on the loose.

A manhunt continues for the people believed to have been behind the Stockton-area mass shooting that killed four and injured 11 at a child's birthday party.

"Every day, he would tell me, 'Dad, I love you. Dad, I appreciate you.' Every night, every morning, that boy would tell me he loved me," heartbroken father Patrick Peterson said, remembering his 14-year-old son Amari killed in the Stockton,
