The winners of Scotland and Ireland's group (Pool D) will play a third-placed team from Pool B (Romania, Georgia, Italy, South Africa), Pool E (Samoa, USA, Japan, France) or Pool F (Zimbabwe, Tonga, Wales, England) in the last-16. The runners-up, meanwhile, will play the Pool E winners, with France the top seeds in that group.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup draw will finally reveal the group-stage paths for the 42 teams already secured, including the three co-hosts (Canada, Mexico, and the United States), and the six contenders for the final spots in the inter-confederation and European playoffs set for late March 2026.
