49ers flirting with disaster on Week 6 injury report
The San Francisco 49ers had some good news on their Week 6 injury report, but it still highlights a slew of problems on the health front as they enter a Week 6 showdown vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The injury report for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-1) heading into their game against the San Francisco 49ers (4-1) features 11 players. The contest starts at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday, Oct. 12, at Raymond James Stadium. Game time: 4:25 p.m. ET
The 49ers continue to be banged up for yet another week. Two of San Francisco's three quarterbacks on the roster, and their top two receivers are on the injury report again, and that doesn't account for tight end George Kittle, who's missed the last four games.
The 49ers put 12 players on their estimated report, listing seven of them as non-participants. Brock Purdy was estimated as DNP, as were Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall. Purdy isn't certain to play this week, according to coach Kyle Shanahan, so his status will be monitored in the coming days.
A new report from an NFL insider indicates that the San Francisco 49ers are interested in potentially acquiring Trey Hendrickson.
A standout rookie for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is reportedly expected to miss time after suffering an injury on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.
"Playing with injuries, it's part of it," Jennings said after Sunday's 30-19 loss. "You got high and low ankle sprains. You got shoulders at 20%. You got five broken ribs. It is what it is. You keep playing. Nobody cares. You keep playing. That's what we do."
