Cam Newton is opening up once again about the desire to expand his family. The retired NFL star, 35, has six biological children and two stepchildren and told PEOPLE that he would like to have more kids.

Newton shares four children with ex-girlfriend Proctor. The athlete also helped raise her eldest daughter, Shakira — born in February 2007 — whom she welcomed in a prior relationship. (Newton referred to Shakira as his “first child” in a 2017 Instagram post, which has since been deleted.)
