Teaching methods have changed over recent years, particularly in the areas of reading and writing. The pendulum is swinging back, though, so phonics and cursive writing are turning up in lesson plans.
Since the school district implemented a new phonics program in Bradley Elementary School, 80% of the kids are now reading above grade level.
The UFLI reading curriculum is already used in McLean County school districts, including District 87 and Heyworth.
