The long-running CBS late night franchise came to an end with what the host called a "normal" broadcast, but the surreal, Easter egg-filled program was stuffed with bold-faced names, with one key exception.
Paul McCartney was Stephen Colbert's final guest on 'The Late Show' Thursday night before things took a surreal turn.
The “Late Show” finale also featured appearances from Jon Stewart, Andy Cohen, Elijah Wood, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Elvis Costello and former musical director Jon Baptiste. Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, John Oliver and Seth Meyers stopped by as well to celebrate their fellow late-night host as he said goodbye — or “see you later,” as Colbert put it.
Back in 1964, Paul McCartney played The Ed Sullivan Show with The Beatles. And on Thursday night, he returned to the same venue to turn out the lights on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
