President Donald Trump ordered the deployment of 2,000 National Guards troops to quell immigration protests in Los Angeles, overriding California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s objections in a rare move.

"This is a serious breach of state sovereignty — inflaming tensions while pulling resources from where they’re actually needed,” Newsom said.

It marks the first time in about 60 years that an American president has taken such action without a governor’s consent.
