Manchester City agreed to a $36 million deal for Burnley goalie James Trafford. The 22-year-old previously played for the Sky Blues from 2021 to 2023.

The 22-year-old has agreed a five-year deal plus the option of a further 12 months to return to the club he left in June 2023.

Manchester City insert buy-back clauses when they sell players yet tend not to activate them when those academy products move on. But this is an example of why they put them in the deals, as it has proven helpful in the ability to buy back a talented player on this occasion.
