Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of Mathys Tel on a permanent transfer from Bayern Munich following a successful loan spell.

Thomas Frank will begin an audit of his Tottenham Hotspur squad after taking over from Ange Postecoglou – with his first job to get his new side Champions League ready. Frank has known Tottenham’s technical director Johan Lange for two decades and the pair will work closely together to make sense of a group that finished 17th in the Premier League last season while also ending a 17-year wait for a trophy.

On Thursday evening, Frank was announced as Tottenham Hotspur’s new head coach on a three-year contract. The 51-year-old is the successor to Ange Postecoglou, who became the first Spurs manager to lift a trophy since 2008 when they won the Europa League final last month.

Speaking post-match, Frank spoke glowingly of the supposedly depleted Spurs team the Bees had succumbed to, and he described right-back Pedro Porro as “fantastic” and “Trent-ish”—referencing Real Madrid’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.
