Suspect's vehicle found in Sibley County as search intensifies for Vance Luther Boelter, wanted in connection with fatal shooting of Minnesota lawmakers in targeted attack.

Investigators found a cowboy hat near the vehicle and were working to determine whether it belongs to Boelter.

Residents of Sibley County are encouraged to lock their doors and secure their vehicles, adding that law enforcement will be going to area residences to ask to search properties.

Boelter claimed to have a doctorate of education, and said he spent extensive time in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Africa — where he was seen in videos apparently preaching on stage.

A cryptic message sent to roommates is just one of many unanswered questions surrounding the suspect who remains at large.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension reports that Boelter was last seen on Saturday morning in Minneapolis, after the shootings, wearing a light-colored cowboy hat, a dark long-sleeve shirt, and light pants while carrying a dark cross-body bag.
