Ebola is one of the deadliest diseases on Earth. With a fatality rate as high as 90%, it’s among a handful of illnesses so dangerous that governments consider them threats to national security.

Africa’s top public health body has confirmed a new Ebola outbreak in Congo's Ituri province.

Some 246 suspected cases, including 65 deaths, have been reported, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC Africa) said.
