"I'm looking at your shield, your helmet, and it ain't got no marks in it." The post Cam Newton says the Patriots have had the ‘easiest’ playoff path in NFL history appeared first on Boston.com.
NFL legend Cam Newton has changed his tune on the Patriots ahead of Sunday's divisional playoff game.
The New England Patriots are on the brink of the Super Bowl — and now a familiar face has stepped in, firing shots at the team.
There is more evidence to back up Newton's claim beyond just the playoffs. The Patriots played by far the easiest schedule in the NFL this season, with a .391 strength of schedule. They also had the lowest strength of victory (.370) out of all the teams that reached the postseason.
Stidham was a New England draft pick, but he never got much of a shot there. Now, with Bo Nix out injured, Stidham is Denver's new starter this week. He hasn't thrown a pass outside of the preseason since 2023, but now he'll be throwing them with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line.
Cam Newton and Jarrett Stidham spent the 2020 season together in New England’s quarterback room. While Newton was the Patriots starter, Stidham was a knowledgeable backup during his second season in Josh McDaniels’ system.
Newton's recent comments on his "4th&1" podcast have reignited discussions about the Patriots' playoff journey. He argued that the teams the Patriots faced, namely the Los Angeles Chargers and the Houston Texans, were underperforming. Specifically, he stated:
CJ Stroud had an all-time bad performance against the Patriots, but a certain Panthers legend thinks it's not all on him.
Although the Broncos made it to the championship game after defeating Super Bowl contenders, the Buffalo Bills, they will be without their talisman, Bo Nix, for the Patriots clash.
