In Mexico, Chávez, 39, faces charges of organized crime affiliation and arms trafficking, Mexican authorities say.

Mexican boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has entered a prison in the northern Mexico state of Sonora after his arrest in the United States in July, the Mexican arrest registry showed on Tuesday.

“It’s complicated; there’s a lot of talk, but we’re calm because we know my son’s innocence,” Chávez Sr. told Colombian newspaper El Heraldo.
