The Reds are "serious" about signing free agent slugger Kyle Schwarber according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. It makes sense. The Reds need more power and Schwarber is the top hitter on the market.
A 2014 first-round pick of the Cubs, Schwarber is a lifetime .231 hitter with 340 home runs, 784 RBIs and an .846 OPS. He provided the Phillies with 11.1 bWAR over the last four years, hitting at least 46 home runs in three of those seasons.
The Phillies will almost certainly offer the slugger more money to return, but his hometown team is serious about getting him back to Cincy.
