Attorney General Pam Bondi issued an order rescinding sanctuary city policies in Washington, D.C. and naming an "emergency police commissioner."

The development came after Washington, D.C.'s attorney general filed a lawsuit challenging the Trump administration's takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department.

The move amounts to a sweeping reversal of "sanctuary" policies in the nation's capital, allowing the Metropolitan Police Department, for the time being, to fully cooperate with federal immigration enforcement.

As the Trump administration sought to commander D.C. police to enforce immigration law, some fear the moves will make the city “less safe, not more safe.”
