Gianluigi Donnarumma’s PSG fallout – why he no longer fits and why other clubs should still want him
Gianluigi Donnarumma won the Champions League last season, reached the Club World Cup final with Paris Saint-Germain — and yet, he finds himself potentially on the way out of the Parc des Princes.
Today, Donnarumma is out of the PSG project with one year left in his contract which runs until the summer of 2026. So what happened in the last few weeks? Why are the European champions willing to let him go?
The Italy international joined PSG back in July 2021 and has since made 161 appearances for the French outfit, winning 10 trophies along the way. Donnarumma was recently nominated for the Yashin Trophy for his spectacular 2024–25 season between the posts.

Therefore, the table has been laid. Donnarumma will be leaving PSG and there are no shortage of suitors for the 26-year-old shot-stopper. Manchester City, Bayern and Galatasaray have emerged amongst the clubs linked to the Italian but there are other possibilities on the horizon for the former Milan man.
