There's an interesting backstory involving the two star hoopers from the 2021 NBA draft. The Warriors had their eyes on Giddey at the draft, but the OKC Thunder came in and drafted him at No. 6, leaving Golden State to pivot to Kuminga at No. 7.

Kuminga is currently a restricted free agent. He has yet to work out a new deal with the Warriors and while other teams have shown interest in him, there has been minimal movement

“Kuminga is not budging and continues to passively let it be known he does not wish to return to the Warriors. If he is to be back with Golden State, nobody expects it to be a long-term marriage, and Kuminga will make sure it's on his terms,” Siegel wrote.

Talks between the Warriors and forward Jonathan Kuminga’s camp have picked up again, though a resolution doesn’t appear close. According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater, who spoke Friday on NBA Today, the two sides have exchanged contract concepts in the past week.
