Snow piled up across Minnesota as the biggest storm of the winter season so far dragged across the state on Thursday.

Parts of Minnesota received more than a half-foot of snow from Thursday’s winter storm. For much of the state, it was the largest snowfall of the winter so far.

Several Minnesota schools are reporting closings and delays ahead of a snowstorm set to drop up to seven inches of snow.

A quick burst of snow has painted our brown landscape into a winter wonderland. The clipper system will keep moving southeast. After a brief lull in snowfall, wraparound snow showers may bring another 1 to 2 inches along with blowing winds.

Thursday brought the first significant snowfall of the season for the southern half of Minnesota, dropping more than half-a-foot of snow in parts of the state.
