The man, his 16-year-old son and a friend, 15, were at the boat launch near Highland Road and Williams Lake Road, preparing to take a 17-foot Chris-Craft boat onto Pontiac Lake when the explosion happened.

At about 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon a boat exploded in Oakland County, sending three people to the hospital, including a 16-year-old boy with more than half of his body covered in burns.

The 17-foot Chris Craft exploded after its ignition switch was turned on, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

Police said dozens of people at the nightclub were detained, and homicide detectives would be doing a follow-up investigation into what led to the shooting.
