Maria Pia Caruso travelled to Rome from her hometown in northern Italy after she learned Pope Francis had died at age 88, to say a final goodbye to a pontiff she believes brought important changes to the global Catholic Church.

The pontiff’s open casket will be on display at St. Peter’s Basilica until Saturday’s funeral.

Chobani will break ground Tuesday on a $1.2 billion natural foods facility at the Triangle site in the Griffiss Business & Technology Park in Rome, officials are expected to announce Tuesday. The plant, when it reaches full capacity, will produce more than 1 billion pounds of dairy products a year on up to 28 production lines.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that Chobani will build the largest natural food manufacturing plant in U.S. history in Rome, New York. The $1.2 billion investment will create more than 1,000 full-time jobs and expand the state’s lead in yogurt production.

Chobani has selected Oneida County as the site for a new $1.2 billion dairy processing plant, marking the nation’s largest investment in natural food manufacturing.
