A UMass student who made a half-court shot during a women’s basketball game halftime promotion will get his $10,000 prize from the school itself after the insurance company refused to pay because, it said,

A UMass student who was initially denied​ a $10,000 prize after making a half-court shot will be getting the money after all.

A video review showed the student's foot was on the half-court line, but the school said it will step in to give him the prize money.

After making a half court shot, Noah Lee's viral moment got even more attention when he was told he would not be getting the prize money.

But on Friday, UMass stepped in to rectify the situation, announcing that the school would award the $10,000 to Lee directly. “We weren’t satisfied with that outcome and arrived at the decision to provide Noah with both a $10,000 award and a host of additional UMass athletics benefits,” the school said in a statement.

Lee made a layup, a free throw, a 3-pointer and a half-court shot in under 30 seconds and was supposed to receive a $10,000 prize, but was informed the following day that his foot had been over

The rules were rather simple to Noah Lee, who stepped onto Jack Leaman Court inside the Mullins Center at halftime of Wednesday night’s women’s basketball game between the host Minutewomen and St. Bonaventure.
