DBPR online services offer a quick and easy way to renew your license, find license requirements, apply for a license and update a license. Before midnight EST on June 2, 2025, you will need to complete the renewal requirements.

The DBPR Online Services website provides information about applicants and licensed individuals for those professions and businesses that are regulated by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

The Department of Business and Professional Regulation has contracted with Professional Testing, Inc., to register candidates, develop, and score professional examinations for the Construction Industry Licensing Board.

The Electrical Contractors’ Licensing Board is responsible for licensing and regulating electrical contractors. The board meets regularly to consider applications for licensure, to review disciplinary cases, and to conduct informal hearings relating to licensure and discipline.

EXAMINATION: Individuals seeking licensure as a CERTIFIED contractor, except for Swimming Pool Specialty contractors, must first take and pass a state certification examination. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Applicants are required to have four years of experience or a combination of college and experience.

There are approximately 106,900 licensed individuals pursuant to Chapter 489, Part I, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 61G4, Florida Administrative Code. A Licensed Contractor is someone who demolishes, subtracts from, builds or improves any building or structure for compensation.

Each construction business must be qualified by a properly licensed individual contractor in order to engage in construction activities in Florida. To verify that a contractor is licensed, you will need to know their license number, the contractor’s name or the name of the business entity.
