Sep 25, 2024 · Okay, I have a clarification. Troup County did purchase the encryption option with their new system. They are not yet running encryption due to the dispatch consoles not supporting it. They will need to upgrade some of the 911 center equipment before they can activate encryption. No timeline on when that might be.

You also need to call the direct phone number for the dispatch center. Calling 911 form a cell phone will not necessarily get you to the right place.

The common Storm Chaser is not in it for the news aspect and isn't really interested in any comms that aren't directly related to the weather. In fact, a lot of chasers have no more comms than their cellphone and laptop, as they aren't into spotting or communicating with other chasers.
