On February 23, 2008, the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber “Spirit of Kansas” (AV-12) was lost moments after takeoff from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. Both pilots ejected safely, but the $1.2 billion aircraft was destroyed—marking the first-ever loss of a B-2.
