The law prohibits any system that allows water from a toilet or bidet to be directly connected to the mains supply. This is to prevent what’s known as “backflow” the risk of contaminated water being sucked back into the public water system. Essentially, the UK government decided that keeping drinking water safe outweighed the benefits of a cleaner behind. As a re
